As they look around at the burning city and the masses of fallen soldiers, all hope is lost for the soldiers of Gondor as the Orcs of Mordor break through the gates of Minas Tirith. Suddenly the sound of battle horns fill the air, Rohan has finally come. This scene depicts the battle that determines if Gondor stands or falls. Three things that make this scene amazing are the setting, music, and the tension created.
The setting is a key factor in getting the audience to feel the character's emotions in a movie. The setting in this scene is the rising sun. In history the rising sun has been a symbol of hope. Just as the sun came over a hillside it revealed the masses of the Rohirim coming up the slope, and with it a leap of joy in the audience's heart. As the sun shone down on the backs of the Rohirim you could see the despair taken from the soldiers of Gondor and a hope regained.
The music also brings the feeling of hope as the morning is beheld. As the music begins to play, it is a sound of courage and loyalty in battle. It is enough to give one chills and have their hair stand on end as if you are actually there. One feels in the soldiers both the return of hope, and a determination to conquer or die in the battle for Middle Earth. In short, it brings the mood out of the battle.
The tension as quoted in the movie is like the “breath before the plunge”. As Rohan is about to plunge into battle, there is a tension of excitement and fear. The two armies are viewed and the Orcs cover the field, but as Rohan charges toward the sea of death the Orcs begin to waver and the battle begins.
As the setting, music, and the tension make an amazing scene the reason it inspires people is that it symbolizes fighting for freedom and liberty. It symbolizes the fight against evil. But most of all, it symbolizes the fight for the good in the world, the fight for truth.

This week I learned to play Tennis. As I thought about how fun it was and how I want to play it more often, I realized that I have liked every sport I ever played. You have probably seen that some of my other blogs are about sports. Tennis I have found is a rather good sport to play with girls. But the thing that makes a sport fun is the physical competition. The joy of victory becomes like an addiction.

In a sense playing sports could be like an addiction because of the endorphins in our brain that transmit signals to arouse and make feel pleasure. But one thing about playing some sports is that it is hard to keep the competition when girls are playing unless they are very athletic. For example in a game of tackle football it becomes like giving the girls big hugs because you don't want to hurt them or other things. . . Wow, maybe that's why girls like to play tackle football so much, they get a hug about every 5 minutes. No, I'm just kidding. So a good way to keep the competition while playing with girls is to play sports like Tennis.

As many of my High School friends are getting boyfriends and Girlfriends I think to my self "self, do I really want a girlfriend." I mean, all the hassle and everything of having to buy her birthday/Christmas/going away/valentines presents, the money spent on dates and other things. But on the other hand you start to like a girl a lot and you want to hold hands and kiss and be a "boyfriend". But then after High School , you go on a mission, come back, and you find she's married which will most likely happen, and all that money spent on another man's wife.

The fact is, getting a girlfriend is so tempting but when you think about it, someone would probably have more fun getting to know and go on dates with many different girls without any obligation. Not that you are lazy by not wanting obligation, you just don't want to be tied down. So the trick to avoid getting pulled in by some seductive hottie... whoa what am I thinking, why would anyone want to avoid a seductive hottie. Wait a minute, what is this blog on anyway. Ok well maybe it's harder than I started to think, but just think about spending money on another man's wife and it gets a little easier.

One of the greatest movies of all time, The Princes Bride. In this video there are many different types of humor shown. Audiences will continue laughing throughout the movie. By dispersing the different types of humor the watchers do not get tired of the style. Three type of Humor that come out are disparagement, sarcasm, and random occurrences.

Throughout the movie there is always a person to make fun of and to laugh at. It may seem cruel, but one of the best ways to get people to laugh is to look at others mistakes or inabilities. It shows stupid or cowardly people to laugh at.

The sarcasm also helps to keep the audience laughing. It keeps the mind occupied in distinguishing sarcasm from genuine words. When one of the characters says something sarcastically and the other character takes it literally, it combines both sarcasm and disparagement.

As Random occurrences catches the audience off guard it becomes funny because it is not the expected happening. One of these in The Princes Bride is when the two witches start arguing about insignificant things when they are about to bring William back to life. The effect is great because the argument has no importance in the plot whatsoever.

The hilarious nature of this movie has brought people to quote it for years. So each time you watch it, it brings more and more laughter.

Across Five Aprils
Considering that it is the month of April I thought of this book. Across Five Aprils is a story during the Civil War about a young boy growing up from 7 to 12 years old. As one reads this book the plot is interesting but is not the factor that inspires a person. The characters that develop and change by overcoming or falling to trial pull the reader into the book and inspires one to be better.

As the Civil War breaks out the family is torn by one brother, who has seen that many black slaves are more a part of their owners families than slaves, joins the confederates. The plot moves on and it shows the young boy trying to understand the turmoil of persecution to the family and internal strife.

When one finishes the book they are left with an inspiration to be better and almost brings the reader to tears because of the great actions of the characters. The impression that it left on me has made it one of my favorite books.

Playing the Piano
I greatly enjoy playing the piano but when it comes to practicing it rarely happens. Practicing what I want to play is fine but the worst are the Alfred levels of practice books. But I guess even if I practice what I enjoy, I still only play the piano when my friends can't play and I don't have any homework.

So my mother quit me from taking piano lessons because I did not practice enough. I want to keep playing but it is very difficult to fit it in to my day. I've been thinking how I can continue playing the piano more. So I decided to set a goal to practice at least 15 min five days a week. Now that it is in this blog, "so let it be written, so let it be done".

So now if this goal does not help me then I think I will probably just have to want it more than an enjoyable pastime and fun ability.

NCAA Basketball

The excitement that comes from watching the NCAA basketball tournament exists because of the players desire to win. The game becomes a game of the determination of the players and their skill. Filling out brackets also makes it fun because when you choose a team to win you take sides instantly.

When you watch a game it is very apparent that both teams want to win and are trying with their fullest effort. It is hard to explain but almost every game keeps you intently watching, sitting on the edge of your seat occasionally jumping up with a shout.

Filling out brackets enhances the fun because it creates a competition for yourself at the same time. If you get every game outcome correct you win a new sweet truck. Checking the final score of each game to find whether you were right or not predicting an upset becomes an obsession.

To me watching the NCAA Tournament where a team is a couple points ahead the whole game but looses by a three pointer at the buzzer is better than the Super Bowl any day.
