Why did I have the one of the worst days ever today?

Last night I had tons of homework, I stayed up to three in the morning and I still didn't get all my homework done. Then today I woke up and had to be at school at 6:45, for an all day field trip. So I rushed to get everything ready, my lunch, my homework, and everything else. This is where my day started to go bad. When I got to school I was cheered up a little from talking to friends. But then what ruined my day is that we had to take a test while we road on the Bus, fill out a worksheet, and take notes at each stop of which we had many and each stop it was freezing cold which added to my tiredness.

At the beginning of the trip I was doing a lot of work so I didn't have time to feel the bad effect of the day, but near the end when we were finishing up our work, I was so tired and brain dead I started to not care about anything. When we got back and graded our tests I didn't even care that I got a bad score. I didn't care what anyone said to me because I was too tired to care. I didn't want to talk to anyone either. I wasn't mad or sad, I was without any emotion. I felt sick because my skin became dry, and I was cold and tired.

The main reasons I had such a bad day is because I was so unprepared for the field trip by being so tired, and also unprepared with homework. This combined to stress me out and then make me so tired I didn't want to do anything. After I came home I slept for an hour and a half, this made my day a lot better because I was not as tired. This shows that if I had been prepared by sleeping the night before, I would not have had a bad day.

What methods of teaching are most effective?

The method of teaching that a Teacher uses is one of the biggest factors in deciding what a person will get out of that class. I have noticed many different methods of teaching in being a student, and I have found which are most effective for the best learning experience. Three of the methods that I have found I have made up names for, they are as follows: Long Lecture- Homework, Short Lecture- Homework, and Long Lecture- Study.

Long Lecture- Homework is pretty effective, but homework is boring and students tend to just look for the answers when doing homework. When this happens they don't retain things they learn, when just look for answers they don't actually study. Plus the test is usually harder than the homework, and requires more information and thought but the students did their homework without other study.

The least effective method is probably Short Lecture- Homework. The short lecture does not explain major concepts, and if the student does not understand something then he/she is more likely to just copy the answer out of the text book. Then when the test comes around they can't remember what they didn't understand, so they get a bad score on the test. This is problematic because they don't actually learn very much at all.

Long Lecture- Study is the most effective way for students to learn. Students should be given little homework and more responsibility to study for tests on their own. It would help people learn responsibility for the rest of their life. It may make school a little harder, but those with responsible attitudes that know they need to study and read in order to get good grades, would learn more. Then the failing students would eventually learn that they have to study.

One of my favorite teachers uses the method of Lecture- Study (he lectures and then you study on your own) in his AP Psychology class. In this class I have been learning more than in any of my other classes and it is also one of my favorite classes. And even though the tests are super hard, I know that if I study, I will do well on them. If all teachers were like this it would make school much more fun, you would learn more, school would be more predictable in amount of study and work needed.

What if TV's did not exist? What would people do without watching TV?

All over the United States people are always watching TV. It has been said that the average TV viewer watches five and a half hours each day. That is a lot of wasted time. People could be doing so many more useful things. If TV did not exist, there would much more time to do things more worth while; students would do better in school, people would have more time to develop stronger relationships with family, and have more time to have fun with friends. And I am only talking about wasted time, but with many immoral things on TV, it could also be shown that people would have a better life without it.

Students would do better in school because they would have less distraction of the TV shows that we "have to watch." Students would not waste time watching TV if it didn't exist, therefore would have less distraction. In many homes the TV is on most of the time and pulls people away from concentration. I have seen people being distracted when the TV is on, and it also happens to me whenever the TV is on.

When people are with their family at home, many people just turn on the TV. People could be developing stronger relationships with their family and getting to know each other better, instead of watching TV. To develop stronger relationships people must be interacting with each other, talking and sharing feelings. This is very hard to do while watching TV.

The time gained by not watching TV could be used for activities with friends. Students who would get their homework done in the time that might have been used watching TV, would have more time to be involved in recreational activities.

Now, I am not saying that we shouldn't have TV's. I like TV, as most people do. I am going to an extreme to prove a point. We should spend less time watching TV and we would have a better experiences with school, family, and friends. Try to limit yourself to no more than one hour and thirty minutes each day and less if possible. Then look at what things change for the better.

What makes a really awesome rock/pop song?

A really awesome song is hard to come by these days. The song has to pass the test of time, meaning that it is still played after many years. Some of the things that make a good song are that: it has to have good lyrics that can't be too repetitive, it has to have a cool tune, and the singer has to have a good voice and sing well. When a song passes all these requirements there's a good song.

In a good song, the lyrics need to have a purpose of some sort, for example it could be a story or a poem, not just some dumb phrases in which the singer is whining about his life, which is exactly what happens in Welcome To My Life by Simple Plan. Another aspect of the lyrics, is that they can't be so repetitive saying the same thing over and over. When a song is so repetitive, if you hear it more than five times in a week you hate it. An example of this is boulevard Of Broken Dreams by Greenday, it ruined a song that could have been awesome.

The tune can also be too repetitive, it can be repetitive to a degree, and be fine, but it has to develop and change a little each time it repeats its self. The tune is what makes words into a song so it has to be good. It should have an interesting melody that has harmony and good dynamic change. The tune is also very important to carry the mood of the song to the listener.

A good singer is one of the things that you absolutely need to have. A song can change in rating from awesome to poor depending on the singer. The singer needs to be right on pitch or the listener will cringe at the sound. A good voice is very important for the listener to even start listening to the song, and keep liking it. The voice could make or brake the song.

So to put it all together, to have an awesome song, the lyrics and the tune separately, should be interesting before they are put together. A person should like each separately, and then when put together, the song becomes an awesome master piece.
